ford (F) Sales rose in August, with a busy summer car buying season and a rebound in truck offers that improve results.

Ford sold 182,985 vehicles in the U.S. for the month, up 13 percent from a year ago. Ford’s total U.S. sales rose sequentially compared with July, when sales were 173,000 units, down 0.2 percent. Ford said the August performance helped the brand capture an estimated total market share of 12.6 percent, up 0.9 percent from a year ago, making it the best-selling brand in the U.S. for two months in a row, according to Ford.

from Ford truck sales August was a highlight for the Dearborn, Michigan-based automaker, with sales up 12 percent to 103,011 units. Ford also noted that it was the first month that F-Series truck sales topped 70,000 this year, up 12 percent from a year ago. The increase in Ford F-Series sales comes after the automaker had a slow start to the year delivering its all-new 2024 F-150 to retrieve.

The other big sales result that stands out was Ford’s hybrid sales, which the company is heavily promoting. Ford said hybrid sales rose 50 percent from a year ago to 16,394 vehicles, including 12,000 for the Ford Maverick and Ford F-150 hybrid pickups.

Ford’s deeper shift into hybrids comes as the company is in the midst of a strategy shift. In mid-August, the company said it would cancel the upcoming release from a large, three-row electric SUV, in favor of leveraging hybrid technology for its next-generation three-row SUVs. Ford also said it is “rescheduling” the launch of its upcoming next-generation SUV. electric truck — codenamed “Project T3” — to the second half of 2027, delaying the opening of an electric truck factory in Tennessee.

Despite Ford’s decision to delay capital expenditures and the launch of some EV products, Ford’s current EVs are selling well. In August, Ford’s EV sales increased 29% to 8,944 units, with the Mustang Mach-E (up by 6%) and F-150 Lightning The majority of sales are electric cars (up 161%).

Finally, Ford’s luxury division Lincoln has also continued to recover, with sales up 49% in August to 9,841 vehicles sold. Lincoln’s new and vibrant Nautilus SUV the results, with a 57% increase, making it the best August in the past 17 years. Ford also unveiled its all-new Lincoln Navigator Full size SUV in Pebble Beach last month.
