Today, Nothing made the first public beta of Nothing OS 3.0 available to the Nothing Phone (2a). The new software is based on Android 15 and the final version is expected to be released in December.
It’s interesting to see that the Nothing Phone (2a) gets this first, as it’s neither the most advanced device Nothing has ever produced nor the newest device released. And yet it got the first rewards for this beta.
Nothing expects the beta for the Telephone (2) next month, while the Telephone (1), Telephone (2a) PlusAnd CMF phone 1 will have to wait until December. This means that the final release of Nothing OS 3.0 will also appear first on the phone (2a), then on the phone (2), and then on the other devices. Nothing OS 3.0, according to Nothing, is “the software we always wanted to make”, and it brings a lot of new things with it.
There’s a new lock screen customization page, upgraded watch faces, expanded widget space on your lock screen, an AI-powered Smart Drawer that automatically categorizes your apps into folders, a new design for Quick Settings, a better widget library design, updated visuals in Settings , faster camera startup speed and faster processing time of HDR scenes, optimized portrait effects, better camera performance in low light, a movable and easily customizable multitasking pop-up view, the ability to open the pop-up view by swiping down on incoming notifications , auto archive to free up storage space without deleting apps or data, partial screen sharing, an updated setup wizard, predictive back animations, and a new fingerprint unlock animation.
