The Galaxy XCover7 is one of the few remaining Samsung phones with a removable battery – it’s a rugged phone that has found its niche. Safety Korea has certified the battery for its successor, which will be called the “Samsung Galaxy XCover8 Pro”, and has provided a photo of it plus some details

The battery, EB-BG766GBY, has a nominal capacity of 4,265 mAh and a typical capacity of 4,350 mAh. That is 16.88 Wh. In comparison, the XCover7 has a smaller battery at 4,050 mAh (typical capacity, 15.59 Wh). The battery is manufactured by Amperex Technology Limited (ATL).

There has been no XCover Pro model since 2022. It had a number of advantages, such as a 120Hz screen, an ultra-wide camera, a better selfie camera and a fingerprint reader compared to the XCover7. The XCover8 Pro should have similar (and perhaps even more) upgrades over the regular entries in the series.

We don’t know when Samsung plans to unveil the XCover8 Pro. The XCover6 Pro was released in June 2022, the XCover7 in January 2024, so the first half of 2025 is our best guess for now.
