Tecno today unveiled its latest generation of foldable models with the Phantom V Fold2 And V Flip2With a starting price of $1,099, the Phantom V Fold2 is one of the most affordable big-screen foldable phones around. We’ll dive deeper into it before we jump into our in-depth review.

Tecno Phantom V Fold2 review

In terms of appearance, the V Fold2 is a big departure from last year Phantom V-fold – it is both thinner (12mm when folded and 6.1mm when unfolded) and lighter (249 grams) than its predecessor, which is immediately noticeable as soon as you pick up the device.

The V Fold2 has a much sleeker camera island, replacing the trypophobia-inducing appearance of last year’s V Fold.

Another nice design change on our review sample is the light blue vegan leather back cover that was developed together with Loewe Design Studio. It feels great in the hand and offers just enough grip, but is also soft on your hands.

The displays carry over from last year, with a 6.42-inch panel (21.3:9 ratio) on the front and a 7.85-inch main screen (10.3:9 aspect) – both LTPO AMOLEDs with FHD+ resolutions and 1-120Hz refresh rates. You also get the same Dimensity 9000+ chipset and 12GB of RAM as standard.

Tecno has also added IP54 dust and splash resistance this time around, which is always nice to see on a foldable. Even more impressive is that Tecno has packed in a 15% larger battery which now sits at 5,750mAh and supports 70W wired charging – a nice improvement over the 5,000mAh cell and 45W charging on its predecessor. You also get 15W wireless charging this time around, which was missing from last year’s device.

A few quick words about the software: it’s Tecno’s HiOS 14 Fold based on Android 14 and brings a ton of AI features under the AI Vision suite. We have an in-depth article on Tecno’s AI features that you can check out here.
