Technology silently revealed the Spark 30, and today we received a press release about the official launch of the series. The vanilla smartphone gets a bigger brother – Spark 30 Pro and both come with a customized Transformers edition.
The Pro phone features 4.5G connectivity (that’s LTE Advanced) and some of Tecno’s latest AI features are built into the software.
The Spark 30 Pro’s display is a 6.78-inch AMOLED with FullHD+ resolution, up to 120Hz refresh rate, and 1,700 nits peak brightness. The flat panel has a fingerprint scanner below it and a 13MP selfie camera beneath a punch hole.
Speaking of cameras, there are two on the back: the largest has 108MP and the other is called “AI Camera,” likely a depth sensor that helps avoid background blur in portrait photos.
Tecno has equipped the phone with a Helio G100 chipset from Mediatek. This is slightly better than the Helio G99 and is currently the most powerful LTE platform in the market.
The phone has 8GB of RAM, which the company advertises as 16GB because it is expandable. Storage is 128GB or 256GB.
The company has taken a lot of pride in developing its AI capabilities, and some of that has made its way into this no-frills Spark 30 Pro with Android 14 and HIOS on top. It has AIGC Imaging, an AI portrait suite, an eraser and snipping tools.
There’s a Google Gemini voice assistant, as well as AI Wallpaper and AI Artboard, which allow for some customization of the software’s appearance to the user’s preference.
The phone is just 7.4mm thin and comes with a 5,000mAh battery that supports up to 33W fast charging. Tecno tested the phone and said it can withstand 25,000 drops from 10cm, 600 falls, and 2,000 presses. Its USB-C lifespan is certified at 20,000 plugs and the volume rocker at 500,000 times.
The Spark 30 Pro also features dual stereo speakers, Dolby Hi-Res Audio, FM radio, NFC and an infrared port at the top for controlling home appliances.
Tecno Spark 30 Bumblebee • Tecno Spark 30 Pro Optimus Prime
The Transformers edition of the Spark 30 and Spark 30 Pro come in two different paint jobs. Tecno gave the Spark 30 a black and yellow Bumblebee-inspired look, while the Spark 30 Pro comes in blue, red, and silver, the colors of Optimus Prime.
Tecno said in a press release that the collaboration with Hasbro, the company that owns the rights to Transformers, aims to add an extra “layer of excitement for energetic youngsters.” The phone will come with exclusive branded merchandise and gift sets.
The Tecno Spark 30 Pro also comes in Obsidian Edge (Black) and Arctic Glow (White). Pricing and availability of the phone and its custom variants are yet to be revealed.
