Announced last week, the new one Apple iPad mini (2024) is now available. The new slate comes with 128GB of storage for $500, double what its predecessor had. This is for the Wi-Fi only model, but there is also a Wi-Fi+Cellular version available for $650. If you need more storage, there are also 256GB and 512GB options available.

The most important upgrade is the Apple A17 Pro, also called the iPhone 15 Pro chipset, but with some downgrades. This, together with the extra RAM (8 GB), ensures that the new mini can run Apple Intelligence.

The new Apple iPad mini (2024) is now available worldwide, with AI features coming later this month

Apple Intelligence will arrive as a software update soon – iPadOS 18.1 will introduce the first set of features later this month, with more features to be added in the coming months. There’s a “but” here: Apple Intelligence will initially only be available in US English (essentially only for people in the US).

The new iPad mini also has faster connectivity. It supports Wi-Fi 6E (ax), higher than regular Wi-Fi 6. Additionally, the USB-C 3.2 Gen2 goes up to 10 Gbps, double what the port on the old mini could do.

The Apple iPad mini (2024) can be found further down Apple’s online store.
