Google’s Pixel 9 series of smartphones unveiled last month came with new features exclusive to the lineup. These included Auto Frame and Reimagine, which may trickle down to older Pixel phones as well.

Android Authority and X user AssembleDebug have found evidence in the Google Photos app suggesting that Google could be bringing Auto Frame and Reimagine to older Pixels. The publication says that there will be three variants of the Google Photos app with different configurations: one for all non-Pixel Android devices, one for the Pixels launched between 2021 and 2023and one for the Pixels launched in 2024.

The Google Photos app for the 2024 Pixels, aka the Pixel 9 series, contains code strings relating to the Auto Frame and Reimagine features. These code strings can also be found in the Google Photos app (v6.99) for Pixels released between 2021 and 2023. This suggests that Google may also be bringing these two features to older Pixels released between 2021 and 2023.

The publication notes that the regular version of the Google Photos app for non-Pixel devices will not include the code strings for Auto Frame and Reimagine. This means that these features will either be unavailable for non-Pixel devices or will remain Pixel-exclusive for a while longer.
