Chinese flagships are getting too good. Huge batteries, the latest chipsets, the best cameras (at increasingly greater distances). But they are also becoming increasingly sophisticated. Enter the Oppo Find X8 Pro And Find X8the latest flagships from China that will thankfully make it to the world stage later this month.
We’ll focus on the Pro here, but let’s take a quick look between the two X8s. Apart from the obvious differences in height, screen size and battery size, the Pro has better cameras – namely a superior 50MP main sensor and a second, longer-reaching 135mm telephoto.
On the left the Oppo Find X8, on the right X8 Pro
The Oppo Find X8 Pro comes with a case, a USB-C to USB-A cable and an 80W charger.
This is a Pro, not an X8 Ultra, so it’s not stacked like that on the front of the camera. The main camera is a 50MP 1/1.4″ LYT808 sensor, not the 1″ unit on the Find X7 Ultra. But you still get two periscope zoom lenses: a 73mm mid-telephoto and a true 135mm telephoto with close-focus capabilities.
The Oppo Find X8 Pro feels very premium in the hand. The subtly curved frame and glass feel great in the hand, and the completely matte surface is first-class and avoids fingerprints.
You get a nice alert slider for quick mute action and a quick button. Although it’s not necessarily a button since it’s not pressed. But Oppo has put a lot of ingenuity into making it feel that way. You can launch the camera with a double-tap in just 0.4 seconds, or press and hold it for a continuous burst of shots.
Elsewhere, the Oppo Find X8 Pro is a flagship through and through. The screen is a 6.78-inch LTPO AMOLED with 4,500 nits of brightness, while the inside mighty 3nm MediaTek 9400. It’s powered by a 5,910mAh battery, which we expect to last quite a while when we get a chance to run our battery test.
